HI I'M SYDNEY SLATER
& I'M A COMMUNICATOR
ABOUT
ABOUT ME
WHAT I DO
WHAT I'VE DONE
I am a Davidson, North Carolina native, small town girl from the South, itching to be a part of the big leagues. I think and learn by putting myself in other people's shoes and am a communicator to the core. I am as much a realist as I am a creative. I am an opportunity taker and jump at any chance to lead. I am a lover of the outdoors, of Harry Potter, and of people, in all their humanity and lack thereof.
I am a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Public Relations in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. My major has allowed me to refine my skills in creative strategy and communication and has taught me how to see the values and assets in others and in myself. My ongoing endeavor at UNC has been my involvement in the nonprofit organization Camp Kesem, in which I serve as both a counselor and a volunteer PR director. In addition, I recently joined the team at Crossroads PR and Marketing as a Content Marketing intern.
I am a busy body and believe in the power of experience, as well as consequence, I have been lucky enough to be a part of a number of organizations throughout my time at UNC. I've interned at The V Foundation for Cancer Research in a dual-role within the communications and public outreach departments and at Save the Date event planning in NYC. I served as the Social Chair and on the Executive Board of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and as the Executive Photographer of SCOPE Magazine.

During my time as Social Chair, I learned a lot about understanding varying audiences. Click here for some insight into what I found.

A fellow intern and I transformed a 26-page word doc 'Event Planners Guide' into a brand-oriented, interactive and user-engaging website
